Um, is it already New Years Eve?! Sooo… I suppose I have missed a few updates in the past few months, but don’t despair. I am about to unveil a new feature on KDiggy – the lightening round post. Everything we have been up to in the past several months in under two minutes (well, maybe more, but not much.)
GO!
Pillow forts. They never get old – especially when Mom is outside and we gather up every single pillow in the house to participate.
Carving pumpkins? Oh yeah! We squeezed that in too!
Sully went through a phase where he insisted on wearing a neckerchief everywhere we went. It was charming at first. And I’ll leave it at that.
Daddy celebrating his birthday with the gifts Sully and I thoughtfully picked out for him. What grown man doesn’t want a plastic sword and shield!??!
Oh – so it’s not useful or what you wanted?! Ouuurrrr baaaadddd… Guess we’ll just have to play with them then.
And we will also eat all of your cake.
After the neckerchief phase ended, rest assured, he just picked up something else to accessorize with. For this particular week, it was an ill-fitting helmet and eye black.
You stay classy, San Diego Sully.
Halloween rocked. Mom and Dad allowed me to fulfill my dream of wearing a cheap polyester halloween costume. Commercialism at its best – and I totally embraced it.
You’ll note that Mom managed to con Sul into dressing as a precious, chubby animal for one more year.
SUCKA.
Bringing the ‘stache back, baby.
Gunning for a good position.
Be aggressive and box'em out, Sul.
All in all, a success! We scored quite a bit of loot for mom ourselves.
Hmmm… not sure who is more excited about our haul at this point. Us or her.
A midst the candy overdosing, I was also in my first season of football.
It made me very thirsty.
Sully channeled Uncle Rico and had little games by himself while I practiced with my team. Don’t feel bad for him – he knows no different. He even said he won all of his games.
We were all pretty excited when Peedles showed up for one of my games. Her northern roots caused her to bring a blanket to the game. I can only imagine that her legs were on fire at this point as it was at least 75 degrees out.
In other news, I learned how to cross my eyes. I usually pull this trick out when Mom and Dad are trying to tell me something crucial to my existence. Really drives home the fact that I am tuned in and listening.
Hmmm… I guess Sul isn’t the only one who dresses up occasionally.
Sul scored some new wheels!
Easy rider.
Due to the warm, winter weather, we have been treating ourselves appropriately. Ice cream in November? Perfect.
Sul and I have been brushing up our technology too. We are working hard at becoming techno-literate and really pushing our intellectual boundaries.
Well… “we” might be a slight exaggeration. Here is Sul (clearly regressing), pretending to be a puppy.
Rats… caught me dressing up again!
Ah, yes. And I was able to take a trip south in the fall! Here I am befriending an iguana in Key West. Dad and I took a trip to see our cousin’s Navy ship christened, and lo and behold - I made a tiny friend! Dad wouldn't let me bring him back though. Bummer.
Sul did not make the trip, but consoled himself by wearing my Mario hat (something I rarely allow to happen when I am around to police such actions.)
We squeezed in Thanksgiving and then quickly made way for Christmas celebrations to commence. For those of you wondering, don’t worry about whether we saw snow because. we. did.
Sul borderline hated it as evidenced below. As you can see, however, I am positively gleeful!
He never did fully embrace the magic of snow and its many capabilities. Coulda been because there were 1,000 children running around in a 20’x20’ area, trying to claim their own snowball. Poor Sul just shut down.
And what better way to really get in the holiday spirit than to watch your dad get attacked by a police dog!? Totally filled us with Christmas cheer.
I will admit that it took several minutes of coaxing for me to get this close to the attack dog. Now, I love myself a dog, but those suckers were fierce.
Mmmmkay... Let's drop it back from the violence, shall we? Before school let out for winter break, I had the opportunity to be an angel in our school Christmas pageant - complete with a solo and speaking part! I totally rocked it.
Then we headed north to Peedles and Poppy’s house where the sun just seems to shine a bit brighter. Sul can attest to that.
We worked on our outdoorsman skills a lot. Here we are building a bonfire with Uncle Stew.
And here we are dominating our fire pile – post fire.
Aunt Danielle joined right in and proved to be a most reliable assistance for our work.
Mom and Dad just sat back and watched other family members chase us while they ate marshmallows.
And then… CHRISTMAS ARRIVED!
Sully dug in right away…
…but quickly burnt out. Gotta pace yourself, buddy.
He quickly recovered though when presented with the activity of burning the Christmas tree. Here we are trekking up the hill to our bonfire.
And we are prepping the incendiary device that was a tree.
The fire was magnificent and we celebrated by having Mom take us on a tractor ride. You can take the girl out of WV, but…
So that is it for now! Happy New Year to you all! We love you and pray that each of you are blessed by our mighty God in 2012!
